One of the world’s largest and most influential modern dance festivals marks its 93rd season, spotlighting Footprints.
The Footprints program bridges ADF’s performance and education series, featuring four ADF-commissioned world premieres performed by students. This year’s choreographers are Ephrat Asherie, Stephan Koplowitz, Vincent E. Thomas and Keith A. Thompson.
Asherie, a New York City-based choreographer, performer and b-girl, is a Bessie Award winner for innovative achievement in dance. She creates rhythm-driven work for her company, Ephrat Asherie Dance. Koplowitz, a multidisciplinary artist, has a 40-year career spanning site-specific and concert dance theater, interactive media installations, film and photography. His large-scale works transform public spaces and invite community engagement.
Thomas is a choreographer, dancer and teacher, and the artistic director of VTDance. His work blends contemporary dance, improvisation, text and cross-disciplinary collaboration. Thompson is a choreographer and director who serves as assistant director of dance and associate professor in the School of Music, Dance and Theatre at Arizona State University.
