One of the world’s largest and most influential modern dance festivals marks its 93rd annual season, spotlighting “bLUr” by Kimberly Bartosik/daela.
“bLUr” draws on the experience of witnessing a loved one overdose, unfolding within a landscape of physical and emotional crisis. The work moves through cycles of tenderness and compassion as five performers navigate states of chaos, panic, emptiness, clarity and hope.
The dancers interrupt these cycles with urgent interventions and moments of care, both tender and unflinching. Their interactions create a sense of immediacy and connection that sustains the work’s fragile environment.
In “bLUr,” time bends and lingers, underscoring themes of vulnerability, resilience and the need for collective care.
