One of the world’s largest and most influential modern dance festivals marks its 93rd season, spotlighting Li Chiao-Ping Dance.
Dirty Laundry is a multimedia work by director and choreographer Li Chiao-Ping, composer Byron Au Yong, and visual artist Hong Huo that explores the history of Chinese labor, systemic racism, and generational trauma. Through expressive choreography, visual imagery, spoken word, text, and soundscapes, it tells the untold stories of struggle and survival that shaped the Asian American experience, highlighting institutionalized violence and the treatment of Asians as perpetual foreigners. Dancers bring their personal histories to the stage, creating a vivid tapestry of resilience, pain, and humanity that becomes a shared act of remembrance and healing.
