One of the world’s largest and most influential modern dance festivals marks its 93rd season, spotlighting Monica Bill Barnes and Company.
A New York Times Critic’s Pick, Many Happy Returns is a dance interpretation of a memory play. Through movement and language, Monica Bill Barnes and Robbie Saenz de Viteri create a shared character — a woman in midlife who moves with clarity but cannot escape the doubt she is determined to dance through. Described as “an experiment in the art of camaraderie and connection, of strangers finding community in a broken world” (The New York Times), Many Happy Returns offers a humorous and heartfelt reflection on identity, revisiting who we once believed ourselves to be while searching for comfort in who we have become.
