American Dance Festival: Shen Wei Dance Arts and Guangdong Modern Dance Company

One of the world’s largest and most influential modern dance festivals marks its 93rd season, spotlighting Shen Wei Dance Arts and Guangdong Modern Dance Company.

MindScape is a concept Shen Wei has been developing in recent paintings and dances, reflecting elements of Chinese culture across philosophy, art and daily life. More than a psychological state, it represents a spiritual pursuit and way of life centered on self-cultivation, exploration and the elevation of one’s “mindscape” to achieve inner harmony. The work is being created in Guangzhou this spring and will premiere in China in June before its U.S. premiere at ADF. It features U.S. dancers from Shen Wei Dance Arts and Chinese dancers from Guangdong Modern Dance Company and marks the first co-production between the two companies.
