Canoeing, Kayaking and Standup Paddleboarding at Hickory Hill on Falls Lake

Independent Paddling Trips provide the equipment while you provide the adventurous spirit. Its guides will not be on the water for you but will remain on shore to assist you when you need them.

Hickory Hill on Falls Lake in Northern Durham County is a shallow area of Falls Lake popular for wading birds. Common bird sightings here include osprey, great blue herons, egrets (great white herons), a variety of ducks and cormorants.

Reservation and payment must be made prior to arrival.

Kayaks and standup paddleboards are for single paddlers. Canoes are for two paddlers (with one small adult or child non-paddler in center). Price is per boat.

Trips run 2.5 hours. Come back early if you want – staff are there to assist at any time.

If you would like to add an additional hour to your trip for $10 this is available during registration. 3 p.m. and later times may be available upon request.
