Skip to main contentThe Choral Society of Durham is the city’s largest chorus, with 160 singers. The Durham Symphony Orchestra is the city’s largest orchestra and the Durham Armory is a landmark building in downtown Durham. Together, these three quintessentially Durham organizations will commemorate the 25th anniversary of the tragedy of 9/11 by performing Mozart’s Requiem on Sep. 10, 2026. This piece was performed shortly after the Twin Towers were attacked in 2001. It is a recognizable piece, associated with grief and redemption. The project emphasizes the civic and community nature of the commemoration of the 25th anniversary of 9/11, with a local emphasis: Durham gathers to remember.
The concert is free.
