The vibrant spirit of Downtown Pittsboro’s social district, including Hillsboro Street and nearby areas, comes alive during the Sept. 18 Finally Fridays Arts Walk from 5-8 p.m. Visitors can explore unique shops, galleries and local businesses; enjoy art and live music; savor delicious food; and connect with artists and neighbors in a welcoming, creative and inclusive community. The event is free to the public and participating artists.

The Downtown Pittsboro Annual Ice Cream Eating Contest, rescheduled from Aug. 21 due to rain, will take center stage at the Sept. 18 Pittsboro Finally Fridays Arts Walk. Open to participants of all ages, the contest kicks off at 5:30 p.m. on the SOCO Patio at 39 West St., across from the historic Chatham County Courthouse Traffic Circle. Whether competing or cheering from the sidelines, community members can enjoy laughter, friendly competition and plenty of sweet treats.

The contest is sponsored by Circle City Ice Cream, SOCO, Downtown Pittsboro and the Pittsboro Finally Fridays Arts Walk, adding a sweet twist to the evening festivities.

For those craving even more frozen treats, additional ice cream stops in Pittsboro include Circle City Ice Cream, S&T’s Soda Shoppe, Katty Korner, Virlie’s Grill and West End Kitchen.

Pittsboro Finally Fridays Arts Walk takes place on the third Friday evening of each month, transforming downtown Pittsboro into an interactive, vibrant arts destination. The event is free to the public and participating artists.
