A favorite event returns to The Durham. The Roof will host an evening of chimney swift watching on Tuesday, Sept. 22, from 6:30-9 p.m., offering a front-row view as large swarms of chimney swifts begin to gather for their annual trip to South America. At sunset, the birds will swarm, dive and roost in downtown chimneys.
New Hope Bird Alliance will be on hand with scopes, binoculars and information about how to protect these endangered birds and their habitats.
7 p.m.: Swifts should be visible flying, feeding and calling.
The event is free and family-friendly.
A portion of all food and beverage sales from the event will be donated to support New Hope Bird Alliance. Guests can enjoy the Roof’s craft cocktails alongside a fresh North Carolina raw bar and seasonal small plates for a good cause.
