Storytime and Playtime
April 30
This is the perfect mid-morning activity for parents and guardians with children ages 5 and younger, held from 10:30 to noon at the Drakeford Library Complex. Storytime runs from 10:30 to 11 a.m., followed by unstructured playtime featuring music, blocks, crawl tunnels and other toys, along with opportunities to meet new friends.

Small Business Week
May 3-9
The Town of Carrboro celebrates its mom-and-pop shops – which make up 96% of Carrboro establishments and employ more than 3,350 people – during Small Business Week. Shop locally to support them this week and all year round.
Youth Fishing Clinic
May 9
Bring your kiddos and learn the ins and outs of fishing, including lessons about equipment, techniques, locations and regulations, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Hank Anderson Park Pond. This event is open to children ages 5 to 15; a parent or guardian must be present for the child to participate.
The Mother’s Day Bazaar
May 10
Celebrate mom and shop for handmade gifts from local artisans while enjoying food and drinks at Carrboro Town Commons from noon to 5 p.m. This event features live music and hula hooping, plus face painting, henna and fairy hair by Sparkle Body Arts.
Lollipop Series for Young Children: Build It Better With ‘The Three Little Pigs’
May 13

The Columbia Marionette Theatre performs a twist to the classic story of “The Three Little Pigs” from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. at Carrboro’s Drakeford Library Complex. The pigs in the play combine their resources and work together to outsmart the Big Bad Wolf, with a special appearance from Little Red Riding Hood.
Freight Train Blues Series
May 15-June 12
The 12th annual Freight Train Blues Concert Series returns to Carrboro Town Commons, featuring live concerts every Friday evening from May 15 through June 12. Performances begin at 6:30 p.m.; bring a picnic blanket or lawn chairs and enjoy the free entertainment! The series is a collaboration among Music Maker Foundation, the Town of Carrboro, WUNC 91.5 FM and The Forest at Duke, complete with food and beer available for purchase, which honors Carrboro native Elizabeth Cotten, a Grammy-winning folk and blues artist and North Carolina Music Hall of Famer.

Carrboro Bluegrass Festival
May 23
Cat’s Cradle plays host to the Carrboro Bluegrass Festival Saturday, May 23, beginning at 3 p.m. A portion of the proceeds benefit the Be Loud! Sophie Foundation, which supports adolescent and young adult cancer patients and their families. The festival, which takes place at Cat’s Cradle’s Back Yard, features 10 artists, including Jon Stickley Trio and The Holland Brothers.
West African Dance Jam
May 29
The Jam Series: West African Dance Jam offers a high-energy workout featuring live drummers and movements inspired by dance across various regions of West Africa. The class welcomes participants of all fitness levels – ages 11 and older – with adaptable moves, guiding them to learn a specific rhythm and choreographed routine by the end of the session. Follow along with instructor Natikwa Gonzalez at the Carrboro Century Center from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Chapel-Hill Carrboro Juneteenth Celebration
June 19
The towns of Carrboro and Chapel Hill host this annual Juneteenth celebration Friday, June 19, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Hargraves Community Center, commemorating the emancipation of enslaved people in the United States. This event is a joyous celebration of history, community and Black culture, encouraging residents and employers to recognize and honor this holiday.
