Skip to main contentQigong (pronounced “chee-gong”) is an ancient Chinese practice that decreases stress and increases energy, supporting physical and emotional balance. “Qi” refers to animating life force energy that exists within us and all around us. “Gong” means work or skill.
Classes will incorporate a variety of movements and postures, including deep breathing, warm-up and stretching exercises, and relaxing, flowing movements. Qigong is like a moving meditation that mirrors nature. Through the release of stagnancy and tension, as well as the cultivation and circulation of energy, Qigong practice can bring vitality to the body, balance to the emotions and calmness to the mind.
No experience is required. Participants are encouraged to tune into their own bodies and adjust movements and positions to remain comfortable.
This will be a standing practice. Participants should wear comfortable clothes that allow full mobility, along with shoes that are comfortable and have good grip. Optional barefoot practice is available once participants determine if it would be best for them on the original wood flooring of the practice space.
Participants should arrive 5–10 minutes early to sign in and settle into the space. As the space can get chilly on colder days, layers are recommended for comfort. Participants may bring water or tea if desired.
